You know those plastic bags the newspapers come in? and the multitude of grocery bags you get when shopping?  I feel like I have a million of them and they seem to stack up, even though I use green bags. Did you know you can recycle all those bags? I can't bear to think of all that waste. The large stores here in NY are required to have a place to recycle the bags now, so I collect them and every month or so I take the stash to be recycled.

For shopping, we have totally switched to green bags. I keep them in every car. Every so often, they need to be washed, but I find I fit more in the green bags, and use less bags overall for the shopping. I even take them to Costco and load them at the register. Still, somehow, we manage to build up a supply of those plastic bags.

Check your local recycling guidelines. NY now accepts those heavy plastics, like plastic plates and the containers your berries and cherry tomatoes come in. And don’t forget to recycle those plastic bags! Use green reusable bags when shopping!
